Kazan University historians participated in the Third International Congress in Bulgarian studies

On May 23-26, 2013 Bulgarian capital – Sophia – hosted the Third International Congress in Bulgarian Studies organized by the St. Clement of Ohrid University of Sofia supported by the President of Republic of Bulgaria Rosen Asenov Plevneliev. This was the first forum during the last 27 years, however, the organizers say that from now on it will be arranged regularly. Repot themes covered the history of Bulgarian territories starting from the ancient time up till now, issues connected with studies of Bulgarian language , Literature, Culture, Social Studies, Political Science and Arts.

Significant part of the congress were festivals devoted to the National Holiday of Bulgaria – the 24th of May. The Day of Bulgarian Culture and Slavic Alphabet connected with the names of St. Cyril and Methodius.

500 scholars participated in the Congress; half of them were from Europe, America and Asia. Members of the KFU Institute of History delivered reports in the section History and Archeology. The following KFU members delivered their reports: Associate Professor of the Department of Archeology and Ethnology, S. Valiullina, Professor of the Department of Ancient History and Middle Ages, O. Gabelko and the Head of the Department of Ancient History and Middle Ages, E. Chiglintsev.

Reports of our colleagues raised interest and were actively discussed.
