The V International scientific and practical conference "Contemporary challenges of Philology and Language teaching: theory and practice" was held at Elabuga Institute.

Today, October 22, the international scientific and practical conference "Contemporary challenges of philology and language teaching: theory and practice" was held in the classrooms of Elabuga Institute of KFU. The event was held for one day in a mixed format in compliance with sanitary and epidemiological recommendations. Scientists, postgraduates and students gathered not only from the Republic of Tatarstan and the Russian Federation, but also foreign specialists from near and far abroad to generalize and broadcast scientific experience.

The opening of the conference was attended by Head of the Department of Foreign Languages of Elabuga Institute of KFU, Marina Achaeva, Professor Anatoly Razzhivin, Professor of the Department of Russian Language and Literature of Elabuga Institute of KFU, Daniya Salimova, Professor of the Department of German Philology of Elabuga Institute of KFU, Elena Shastina, Associate Professor of the Department of English Philology and Intercultural Communication of Elabuga Institute of KFU, Nadezhda Pospelova.

The goal of the conference is to attract young scientists, postgraduates and students to work on current problems in the field of modern philology and the theory and methodology of language teaching. Traditionally, the work of the sections is divided into four main areas: "Problems of contrastive linguistics and translation studies", "Issues of Russian and foreign literary studies", "Urgent issues of intercultural communication and cross-cultural studies" and "Methods of teaching languages in the linguopolicultural space".

"Our conference traditionally takes place in autumn and is timed to the fact that 56 years ago at the same time Faculty of Foreign Languages was founded in our university. To date, this is the fifth international conference. Two departments take part in its organization: the Department of German Philology and the Department of English Philology and Intercultural Communication. This year, the geographical range is very extensive. The reports are made by representatives of the leading universities of our country, as well as by our foreign colleagues. This event is aimed at summing up the results of our scientific work," shared Elena Shastina, Professor of Philology.

The proceedings of the conference will be published in the form of full articles in a special scientific collection included in the Russian Science Citation Index databases.
