Kazan Federal University and Metroelectrotrans agree to develop driverless electric transport

Rector Ilshat Gafurov and General Director of Metroelectrotrans Asfan Galyavov met on 30th July.

The sides signed a document to jointly promote automated electric transport and intelligent transport systems in Tatarstan.

Rector Gafurov noted, “Kazan Federal University is one of the leaders in Russia in intelligent transport and transport automation with many years of experience. We have relevant cooperation projects with over 20 industrial partners.”

During his visit, Mr. Galyavov visited the Center for Digital Transformation of KFU and spoke with its head Dmitry Chikrin. Mr. Chikrin showed the latest research in Big Data, driverless transport, navigation, intelligent security, and sound processing. He opined that Kazan University has the necessary expertise to implement cutting edge automation systems for electric transport, which in Kazan is represented by subway, tram, and trolleybus. The planned projects include medical monitoring for drivers.
