Kazan University Kindergarten to open doors in autumn 2020

The kindergarten will cater to children with autism spectrum disorders.

Interim Principal of the Kindergarten, Associate Professor Irina Nigmatullina explains, “We initially planned to admit 20 kids with autism spectrum disorders and 75 kids without special needs. However, because such institutions are rarely found in Tatarstan, a decision was made to reorient the kindergarten completely towards autism spectrum cases.”

The kindergarten has been in the plans since 2017. It’s set to unite the potential of KFU’s Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology, Institute of Psychology and Education, Center for Precision and Regenerative Medicine, and Volga Regional Center of Advanced Training and Professional Retraining of Teachers.

The admissions will be coordinated with the Department of Education of City of Kazan.

“There are going to be 10 short-time stay groups for children aged three to seven, 8 short-time stay groups of the Special Child program, and two groups of the Lecotheque program; the latter will feature classes conducted together with parents. Each group will have no more than five kids. Every single child will have a personalized study program. Furthermore, a special consultation body will help children with autism spectrum disorders starting from one year of age,” continues Nigmatullina.

Among the jobs allocated for the kindergarten are psychologist-neurologist, medical P. E. expert, upbringing teachers, psychologists, speech therapists, defectology professionals, tutors, and resource teachers. As many positions as possible will be filled by the alumni of Kazan Federal University.

The kindergarten has been already given a status of a partnership institution in the Federal Program for Creating and Implementing an Adaptive General Program of Preschool Education for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

The institution’s official title is Мы вместе, which stands for We Are Together.
