Kazan Federal University and CUPET agreed on further cooperation

Representatives of the Cuban oil company visited on 18th – 20th March.

The delegation comprised Head of Education and Development at CUPET Mario Miranda Marquez and HR Director Tanya Perez. They were joined by Counselor for Higher Education and Science of the Embassy of Cuba in Russia Gustavo Cobreiro.

They met Ildus Chukmarov, Director of the Center for Advanced Training of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies, an educational subdivision in charge of many courses for Cuban oilers. The last of the batches of Cuban specialists was at KFU in February 2020, and our educators were supposed to travel to Havana for the next course in March. The trip, of course, was cancelled because of the COVID-19 prevention measures.

Mr. Cobreiro shared that the Cuban side is happy with the quality of education. Mr. Marquez added that KFU’s approach to the process is really satisfactory.

Ildus Chukmarov noted that the Center aims to become a robust online and offline service for advance training. The existing practice, as he said, shows that online learning is in no way inferior to traditional forms.

The guests also talked with Cuban students about the latters’ experience at Kazan University.

On Friday, they held negotiations with Vice-Rector for Research, Director of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies Danis Nurgaliev and Vice-Rector for International Cooperation Linar Latypov. Further steps to expand collaboration were discussed.
