January is a time for summing up the past and a starting point for new activities and undertakings. Director of the Institute of Psychology and Education, head of the SAE "Teacher of the 21st Century", Professor Aidar Kalimullin, spoke about the successes and achievements of the outgoing year, as well as about goals and objectives for the next 2020.
We have something to be proud of and something to rejoice: Kazan Federal University for the first time entered the top 100 best universities in the world in the field of "Education", taking 94th place. Kazan University was the only Russian university in the first hundred of the Higher Education subject rating in this direction. This is the best indicator in the entire modern history of Russian education.
January
In January last year, Kazan University, thanks to the project of scientists from the Institute of Psychology and Education “Development and implementation of an adapted basic educational program for preschool education of children with autism spectrum disorders”, received the status of a federal innovation platform.
The logical result of work in this direction was the reward from the Global Education program of the SKOLKOVO business school and the inclusion of KFU in the top 3 list of employers of the program: 13 program participants chose a Tatarstan university for compulsory three-year work in the Russian Federation after studying at foreign universities at public expense .

March
An important event in March was a request for psychologists-graduates of the Institute of Psychology and Education from municipal educational organizations, the first time in recent years has arrived at KFU.

Practical work has begun on creating a new format school in the Republic of Tatarstan that meets the concept of a multilingual educational environment. The proposal was voiced by RT State Advisor Mintimer Shaimiev. In order to understand whether the republic's higher school is able to provide the necessary level and quality of training for teachers who are able to work on new principles, the visit of the first president of the republic to KFU was organized. As a result, KFU received regional funding for the training of more than 100 teachers for multilingual schools. The total number of students at the expense of the regional budget exceeded 300 people.
April
The year 2019 was a breakthrough for the Institute of Psychology and Education in attracting funding to support research from major national research foundations and private companies. The total amount of external funds, excluding the university's competitiveness program aimed at the development of scientific activity, has more than doubled compared to 2018 and exceeded 22 million rubles. This was made possible by improving the quality and sophistication of applications sent to the Russian Science Foundation and the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, as well as in connection with the successful formation of significant backlogs on promising topics.

For the fifth year in a row, the Institute of Psychology and Education of KFU at the highest level holds a forum for representatives of the field of education and psychology, which has become the largest such event in Russia, Eastern Europe and the CIS. In 2019, teachers from the Russian Federation, the USA, Sweden, Germany, Canada, China, Israel, etc. gathered at KFU to discuss urgent problems of school education and teacher training.
Representatives of the universities of Oxford, Dublin and others made speakers at the forum. In total, the forum was attended by researchers from 140 higher educational institutions of Russia and 75 foreign from more than 30 countries. Over 600 Russian and foreign scientists discussed the urgent problems of preparing a future teacher for pedagogical activity in a multicultural educational space.

A collective monograph by researchers from 11 countries “Learning To Teach In Russia: A Review of Policy and Empirical Research” was published by the renowned international publishing house Bloomsbury Publishing PLC. One of the chapters was prepared by KFU scientists - professors A. Kalimullin and R. Valeeva.

In 2019, the IPO conducted an examination of the Yandex.Tutorial digital educational platform for its compliance with the requirements of federal state educational standards for preschool education.
In addition, together with MTS, a study was conducted of the practice of using the Smart University digital distance learning platform in preparation for the main state exam in grade 9.

One of the important results of the participation of Kazan University scientists in the ATEE International Conference on Pedagogical Education was the inclusion of KFU (Russia's only university) in the new ATEE network project “Teacher Education in Central and Eastern Europe: Recent Events and Future Challenges”.
Rector of KFU, professor, academician of the Russian Academy of Education I. Gafurov led the Russian delegation at one of the most respected conferences in the world of the World Association of Educational Researchers WERA. He presented the experience of Kazan University in the field of teacher training. His report addressed the key issues of teacher education, relevant for many countries - an assessment of the effectiveness of teacher training, teacher responsibility to society, state policy in the field of teacher education.

The results of the admission campaign of Kazan Federal University have confirmed the fact that the direction of training "Pedagogical Education" is becoming more and more popular among applicants with high scores of the exam.
As a result of admission in 2019, 11933 people entered the first year of all directions at Kazan University. Of these, in the areas of teacher education - 2150, including 740 - in the Institute of Psychology and Education. Thus, student teachers make up 18% of the entire student body of our university (for comparison, in 2018 - 16%).
The regional scientific center of the Russian Academy of Education in the Volga Federal District has been operating on the basis of the Kazan Federal University for the third year. Its creation was a logical result of the work of scientists of the Institute of Psychology and Education of KFU and RAO.

In 2019, a new digital infrastructure began to form for the educational process and the development of research in the field of education. The Center for Digital Educational Technologies EduTech was opened in the structure of Kazan Federal University, an audience for the design of digital educational environments was created, and a new center for distance learning and design of online courses began to form.

A significant event of November is the inclusion of KFU in the top 100 of the best universities in the world. Taking the 94th position among the best universities in the world in the subject field “Education”, according to the rating of the Times Higher Education agency, Kazan Federal University has significantly advanced in such indicators as international reputation, quality of teaching, citation, etc.
