Kazan University visited by representatives of Petrolera RN Ltd, Staatsolie Maatschappij Suriname N.V. and SamaraNIPIneft

The meeting was held on 31st July.

Vice-Rector for Research, Director of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies Danis Nurgaliev accompanied the guests and showed a presentation of Kazan Federal University.

Head of Strategic Research Unit EcoOil Mikhail Varfolomeev spoke about hydrocarbon research and development at the University. He mentioned a new program in petroleum engineering with Imperial College London and Rosneft; the master course launches this autumn.

Ivan Kireev, Key Project Manager of SamaraNIPIneft, a Russian research institution specializing in the oil and gas industry, said that scientific advancements are the core of the company’s strategy, and Kazan Federal University is a known center of thought in this area.

Senior Research Associate Yuan Chengdong briefly presented KFU’s progress in hydrodynamic oil extraction enhancement methods, and his colleague Rail Kadyrov was in charge of explaining the utilization of digital drill sample technology.

The guests then proceeded to visit the University’s labs, and the day concluded with a roundtable on thermal methods of oil recovery enhancement. Petrolera RN, which is Rosneft’s subsidiary in Venezuela, plans to test KFU’s catalysts on their oilfields.
