Kazan University oilers presented achievements at World Heavy Oil Congress and Exhibition 2018 in Oman

The event was held 2nd – 4th September in the country’s capital Muscat.

The annual congress was first organized in 2006 and has become one of the popular venues for oil companies and researchers. This year, 336 reports were showcased by participants from 40 countries.

Deputy Director of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies Vladislav Sudakov talked about complex monitoring of steam-assisted viscous oil extraction, and his colleague Lenar Minikhairov (Center for Modelling of Heavy Oil Deposits) elaborated on the specifics of hydrodynamic modelling under different wettability conditions.

KFU delegates visited the Oil and Gas Research Center to discuss various cooperation opportunities in oil extraction methods.

Another fruitful meeting was held with Rashid Al-Maamari, Head of the Petroleum and Chemical Engineering Department of Sultan Qaboos University. The sides agreed to collaborate in education and research.
