3rd Russian GMP Conference and 1st Russia-China Symposium on Organic and Supramolecular Chemistry

This week is a very busy one for Kazan University.

Rector Ilshat Gafurov made a report about KFU’s strategy in pharmaceutical science on 27th August during the opening of the 3rd Russian GMP Conference.

He spoke about the existing educational programs (pharmacy and medical chemistry), international collaborations, and infrastructure. In particular, KFU has its own biobank and all the necessary facilities for cell research. All the work is coordinated by the Pharmaceutics, created thanks to and supported by the Federal Program Pharma 2020. Clinical trials are held at the University Clinic. This year, as the Rector said, marks the first test production of GMP-certified substances. KFU's alumni in medical chemistry and pharmacy are in high demand right now.

In conclusion, the Rector offered to unite all Pharma 2020 centers into one network structure and to invite pharmaceutical companies to join.

The 1st Russia-China Symposium on Supramolecular Chemistry is being held by KFU on 27th – 29th August. 30 renowned researchers – 15 from each of the two countries – have gathered to share latest developments. The event is organized in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Russian Chemical Society.

Kazan University is a well-known center of organic and supramolecular chemistry. The latter has been developing for over 20 years under the guidance of Alexander Konovalov and Igor Antipin.

Dr. Antipin opined that supramolecular chemistry is a “bridge between living and non-living matter.” It serves as a basis for nanotechnology and nanomaterials research.

As was mentioned during the proceedings, the next symposium will be held in 2020 in Beijing, China.
