First Afrikaans-Russian Dictionary to be Compiled by KFU

A delegation of the Republic of South Africa visited on January 24th.

The team comprised Chief Director for International Relations of the Ministry of Higher Education and Training Ghaleeb Jeppie, Deputy Director of the same office Ruth Roberts, and First Secretary of the Embassy of RSA in Russia Kenet Nekudzhiga. KFU was represented by Vice-Rector Linar Latypov, Associate Professor Ramil Yuzmukhametov, and Associate Professor Marat Nasrutdinov.

Kazan University has one ongoing project with the University of Pretoria - Professor Annette E. Götz heads the Stratigraphy of Oil-Bearing Reservoirs of Late Paleozoic Lab.

Dr. Latypov presented the University and mentioned that there is currently one South African national studying here. Mr. Jeppie and Mr. Nekudzhiga proposed cooperation and participation in the Embassy’s events in Moscow.

Associate Professor Yuzmukhametov talked about his work as the head of the Afrikaans dictionary project, the first of its kind in Russia.

The sides agreed to promote student and faculty exchange and discussed a possible revival of the Center for Russian Language at the University of Pretoria.
