Uzbekistani Delegation at the KFU Biomedical Cluster

The team was headed by Vice-Premier Gulomzhon Ibragimov.

The guest visited the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology, the Medical Simulation Center, the microscopy center, the anatomical museum, and the phantom surgery class.

Special interest was drawn to the Eidos Engineering Center and its medical simulators. Eidos reached the revenue of 10 million USD in the first three years of its existence after having been established in 2012. The company now has over 200 employees and takes up 50% of the national market of medical simulators. Its equipment has been tested by Juntendo University and Medtronic-Covidien with great results. Eidos is now working to open a simulation center at Juntendo, and the RIKEN-Juntendo-KFU team will use its products for a unique system of surgery simulations in Japan.

Uzbekistan has traditionally been number one in overseas recruitments to KFU, with the current Uzbekistani student population of 1,163. KFU and partner universities in the Central Asian country work together in physics and astronomy, Earth sciences, mathematics, social sciences, and environmental studies.

Rector Ilshat Gafurov and Vice-Premier Ibragimov agreed to hold Tolstoy Year events in Uzbekistan in 2018. Kazan University will be hosting many notable celebratory events to honor the great Russian writer’s 190th anniversary next year.
