3rd International Conference on Environment and Sustainable Development of Territories

The conference is being held on September 27th – 29th.

Over 500 contributors have arrived from Finland, Italy, USA, Japan, Canada, Germany, Romania, Oman, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Belarus, and 27 provinces of Russia.

Vice-Premier of Tatarstan Vasil Shaykhraziev welcomed everyone on behalf of the Republic's government, “We are very pleased that the Republic of Tatarstan not only grows but becomes a leader, and we are twice as pleased to host such forums and symposiums with international experts here in Kazan. We have something to show and share, and we have something to learn”.

As the Vice-Premier noted, environmental issues are always one of the key concerns for the region. The Republic has implemented a program of construction and renovation of parks, embankments, and public gardens in its cities in the last few years. A number of other environmental initiatives is also in the works.

Vice-Rector Dmitry Tayursky in his welcome speech said, “Humankind is now facing the problems mentioned in this conference’s agenda. Without scientific approaches, analysis and mathematical modelling of all the processes we cannot provide necessary resources for the world and for our country. Our ecologists are well-known nationwide and abroad. We work actively on these issues, which is attested by the number of experts who have arrived to Kazan to partake in this event.”

The Conference is devoted to the Year of Ecology declared in Russia. It is co-organized by Kazan Federal University, Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, Committee on Ecology and Environmental Protection of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Committee on Ecology, Natural Resources Management, Agro-Industrial and Food Policy of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan, Tatarstan Academy of Sciences, and Tatarstan Branch of the Russian Geographical Society.
