International activities of the Institute in 2016

On April 25, a regular meeting of the Academic Council of Leo Tolstoy Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication was the summing-up event of the previous year academic work. The main topic on the agenda was the announcement of the results of the international activities of the Institute in 2016.

IPIC is one of the leading institutes of KFU in the number of foreign students who study there. Currently, more than 13% of students in the institute are from China, the United States, Turkey, Iran, Vietnam, France, Iraq, the Czech Republic, the Republic of Korea, Yemen, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kirghizia, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Azerbaijan and other countries.

Foreign students and teachers of IPIC are taking part in the programs of academic mobility. In 2016, 48 students, post-graduate students as well as the professors were welcomed to work and study at foreign partner universities. More than 80 professors took part in international conferences. The Institute is the leader in the number of students participating in student exchange programs, as well as intergovernmental agreements: in 2016, IPIC selected more than 250 students from foreign universities. Students of partner universities also come to the short-term programs of the Summer and Winter School on Russian language and culture every year. Additionally, in 2016 IPIC organized 25 international conferences, symposiums and seminars; 47 foreign specialists took part in the educational and scientific activities of the Institute.

Among the tasks set for this year, the attraction of foreign students to IPIC programs and the systematic work on the creation of joint educational programs with foreign partner universities are relevant. It is also necessary to intensify the work on attracting foreign professors and researchers, including Russian PhD-holders, to the staff of the institute.
