Kazan- Nottingham: academic mobility prospects

On May 11, representatives of the University of Nottingham (Great Britain) paid a working visit to Leo Tolstoy Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication.

The delegation, which comprised Sarah Wilson, a student mobility department worker, and Monica White, Assistant Professor of Faculty of Arts, a Russian language teacher, the coordinator of the programme “Year in Russia”, was greeted by Professor Radif R. Zamaletdinov, Director of Leo Tolstoy Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication. Having highlighted the importance of collaboration with one of the leading universities of the world, Professor R. Zamaletdinov told about the upcoming Year of Leo Tolstoy and invited the foreign colleagues to take part in the events devoted to it in 2018.

After that, the guests learnt more details about the work and achievements of the institute, shared their experience in student mobility organization in the University of Nottingham, and expressed a desire to enter into long-term cooperation in student exchange. An agreement has been planned to be signed in order to provide the students of Leo Tolstoy Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication with the opportunity to study in the School of Cultures, Languages and Area Studies of the British university. Alongside with that, Nottingham University students majoring in Slavonic Studies will be able to come to our university and get high quality training in the Russian language, literature and culture. One of the students of a partner university, who is now studying in Higher School of Russian Language and Intercultural Communication, has already seen the high quality of teaching for himself.
