A joint educational master programme of Giessen University and Leo Tolstoy Institute

Leo Tolstoy Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication in cooperation with Giessen University named after Justus Liebig (Germany) are planning to open a joint educational master programme. This issue has become major at the talks during the visit of Professor Monica Vingender, cooperation curator between Kazan and Giessen universities. In addition, the meeting’s agenda was connected with the prospects of development of the research projects realized in the area of humanitarian sciences as well as with opening the center of the Russian language in Germany.

The partnership agreement between Kazan and Giessen Universities was signed in 1989; at present, the cooperation is realized as part of student and academic exchange, master's programme of two diplomas in management as well as research projects supported by German funds (DAAD, DFG, Volkswagen et al).

The planned joint educational programs are focused on the German Philology Department masters of Philology and Intercultural Communication Institute and master students of Slavic studies at the University of Giessen. After the first year of studying in their universities the students of the joint programme will have an opportunity to study for a semester at the partner university.
