On February 16, in Leo Tolstoy Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication of Kazan Federal University there was held the annual XVI Republican scientific-practical conference for school and university students “The Language Taste of Our Epoch”.

The XVI Republican scientific-practical conference for school and university students “The Language Taste of Our Epoch” is traditionally held every year within the framework of the career guidance program of Leo Tolstoy Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication.

Students from more than 50 secondary and high schools of Kazan city and the Republic of Tatarstan were the participants of the conference.

There were 7 sessions at the Conference. The presenters discussed the up-to-date issues on the following topics:

• Questionable Issues in Foreign Languages.

• Country-study.

• Integrated Study of School Subjects in Foreign Languages.

• Pedagogical Innovations in Foreign Languages.

Reports were presented in three languages: Russian, Tatar and English.

At the opening ceremony, Kazan Federal University professors I. Yarmakeev, T. Bochina and L. Salekhova welcomed school and university students and wished all the presenters to take their opportunity to demonstrate their creativity and ability to conduct research.

All the participants of the conference agreed on the point that learning foreign languages allows people to understand that the world can be viewed differently thanks to the intercultural comparative approach.

The presenters and their advisers got certificates of the participants of the XVI Republican scientific-practical conference for school and university students “The Language Taste of Our Epoch” at the closing ceremony.
