KFU students attended master-class in the largest oil service company 'Schlumberger'

In Kazan Federal University was opened student section of the International Society of Petroleum Engineers SPE (Society of Petroleum Engineers Student Chapter) at the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies. Undoubtedly, work in sections gives opportunity of gaining professional experience in the University. Thus, students Aidar Faizrakhmanov and  Julia Garipova took part in a three-day training organized in December, 2012 in Astrakhan by the largest oil service company "Schlumberger".
Aidar Faizrakhmanov shared his impressions about the trip:
  - Our trip started at the airport. Having flown from Kazan to Astrakhan we arrived in completely snow-free region, which surprised us after snowdrifts in Tatarstan. We lived in a four star hotel with spacious rooms and a wonderful view on old city.
The first day of the training started with a visit to the office of Schlumberger. Except from the excursion, we were presented the Korchagin project and got acquainted with the development of the northern part of the Caspian Sea. The next stage of acquaintance with the company was a trip to the base "Brest", where we heard a briefing, dressed in a special form, and had an excursion in shop floor of unit "Drilling and measurements". It was very interesting! We learnt the information on innovative devices and advanced technologies used in the drilling of wells.
Equally interesting was the visit of the Astrakhan State Technical University. We had the unique opportunity to attend team building training, which was conducted by members of student section SPE of the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas. The training lasted for about three hours. During this training each participant received a lot of impressions and positive emotions.
The evening participants from Kazan and Moscow spent in the hotel, sharing their impressions about the day and making plans for future projects.
The second day the participants spent only on Schlumberger base "Solyanka". The weather was unusually cold, with a chilly wind, but eager to gain new experience and knowledge students passed this trial bravely. Having looked around and become acquainted with the equipment for well testing, we went to the other two units. In the first segment hangar we practiced  our knowledge in GIS, and in the second we acquainted with the concepts of filters, packers used in the lower, middle and upper pumping.
By the end of the third day of our trip we said goodbye to our new friends with whom we got acquainted on these trainings in the oil service company "Schlumberger".
