Kazan University Enrollees Are Top Exam Scorers among All Federal Universities

Such are the final results of the 2016 admission season.

The figures were presented by Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Russia Alexander Klimov during his press conference.

Kazan Federal University was the best among 10 federal universities with the average score of 73.3, Baltic Federal University enrollees scored 72.9, and Sothern Federal University – 72.7. These are Unified State Exam scores. Russian average was 66 this year.

As Executive Secretary of the KFU Admission Office Sergey Ionenko pointed out, the scores showed by Deputy Minister Klimov didn't take into account KFU's own exams. With them in the mix the score would actually be 74.87; that's 2.6 points higher than in 2015.

Mr. Klimov also mentioned high competition in Tatarstani universities (the number for KFU was 15.5 applications per vacancy). 60% of this year's enrollees in Tatarstan came from other provinces of Russia (40% for KFU).

The admission season ended August 25th. More than 11 thousand freshmen joined Kazan University's ranks.
