The festival took four days, from August 7th to 10th.

This event is a unique multi-format forum, the only of its kind in Russia. This year over 40 experts from different countries held more than 100 seminars, roundtables, role-playing sessions, and lectures.

The tagline for this iteration was “A Changing Teacher in a Changing World”. This choice reflected the ever accelerating pace of technological changes in contemporary society, changes that influence politics, economies, and individuals all over the world.

IT and Internet have drastically changed the flow of information. For instance, now a model of “reversed classes” is popular where a student shows up not to receive some information from a teacher but to exchange opinions about what he or she has already found out.

The festival including too big research projects for the participants held together with the Technical University of Dresden. The first one was about basic competencies and communication barriers in everyday teaching. The second concerned pedagogical education in Russia, its latest developments within the context of governmental decrees and roadmaps.

Another special event was called «A Teacher's Case» and was a kind of a role-playing game where participants tried to reenact and analyze the trickiest situations from their practice.

The first festival was organized in 2009, coincidentally, with assistance from the then Head of the Yelabuga Municipal District, now Rector of KFU, Ilshat Gafurov. The Yelabuga Forum tries to experiment with informal, less conference-like formats to facilitate new ways of pedagogical experience and opinion exchange.
