Agreement on Cooperation in Science and Education between Kazan Federal University and Lappeenranta University of Technology

The Agreement on Cooperation in science and education between Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University and Lappeenranta University of Technology was signed on November, 15 by KFU Vice-rector for International Relations Linar Latypov and Vice-rector in Research of Lappeenranta University of Technology Veli Matti Virolainen within the official frames of the visit of Minister for European Affairs and Foreign Trade of Finland Alexander Stubb. 

Prior to the signing ceremony, Linar Latypov made the presentation of Kazan Federal University. The representatives of KFU Office of Innovation Development, Higher School of Information Technologies and Information Systems, Institute of  Management and Territorial Development also reported on their branches of activities.

Lappeenranta University of Technology (Finland) was founded in 1969 as the Higher School of Economics in Lappeenranta. It received the status of the University in 2002. The university campus is situated on the shore of lake Saimaa, about 7 km away from the city center. For decades already, Lappeenranta University of Technology has been combining two fields of science that complement each other – technology and business studies.

The university's areas of strength include energy efficiency and the energy market, strategic management of business and technology, scientific computing and modelling of industrial processes and expertise in Russian business and industry related to the areas above.

The cooperation with Russia is concentrated mainly on Baltic region.

The LUT has three faculties: Faculty of Technology, Faculty of Technology Management, School of Business.
