The foreign languages contest from the winners point of view

Our university is famous for the great number of festivals and cultural events that it hosts. Among them we can distinguish the recently held Festival of Foreign Languages. It is an annual event which gives us, the students, a great opportunity to practice our language skills, face lots of challenges and successfully deal with them. And you, dear audience and respected jury, get the chance to have some good time watching us perform... But not until you have to choose the winner!

This year the main theme of the festival's first day was described by the statement, familiar to everyone: "Manuscripts don't burn". Each participating institute prepared an interesting performance: some made good use of their dancing skills, some recreated epic scenes from their favorite fantasy movies, some tried to combine two languages in their plays, and our team was not an exception. We knew that we would have to compete with the best representatives of each of the departments, so we took the preparatory period very seriously and tried to think of something that would have definitely struck both the audience and the jury with its' originality. After many days of intense debates we decided to write a poem and perform it just like the professionals do it in the theatre. Also, we tried to see the hidden meaning of the festival's main theme and, based on it, wrote a small screenplay, which we have later developed into a bigger one, filled with more details and imbued with the feeling of optimism. Well, we guess it worked!

The second day of the festival was marked by the songs contest. The number of performers was truly amazing – that evening it was up to 21! It so happened that we were to take the stage under the number of the twentieth participant, so we could watch the whole concert, what we did. Indeed, the students of the KFU are talented in every sphere of life! We were amazed at how professional many of the contestants behaved on the stage and outside of it – there was no tension in the air; on the contrary, it was filled with the spirit of friendship.

Again, we took the preparatory period extremely serious and began our act's rehearsals long before the day of the concert. Although the contest is aimed on singers, we thought that we couldn't have explained the thing we wanted to say without one of the most expressive ways of explanation – dancing. With no exaggeration can we say – we couldn't have performed as good as we did without the help of our friends, the «Headshot» dancing collective, which is formed by the students of  N.I. Lobachevsky Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics.

It was great fun to participate in the Foreign Language Festival this year; moreover, we gained valuable experience and have once again understood that Kazan Federal University is the best place for students to fulfill their dreams and develop their talents.

In conclusion, we would like to thank the organizers of the Festival, the respected jury, our dear teachers and all of those who supported us.
