Tatarstani Delegation in Finland

A number of Tatarstani officials and businesspeople disembarked on the land of Suomi on November 15th.

The delegates are partaking in the local business forum and visiting universities and research institutions. The main attention is focused on Aalto University (its priority areas are energy and sustainable development, advanced materials, and environmental sciences). The university is exemplary in innovation management – this experience is of special interest to Kazan University. Rector Ilshat Gafurov noted that a similar system is being established at KFU.

Kazan University has ties with Finnish universities, notably University of Helsinki and University of Turku. There is also cooperation with the international mobility and cooperation organization CIMO.

The delegation also held a meeting with the sizable local Tatar community. The Tatars of Finland practice their religion, language, and traditions despite having lived in the foreign country for six generations. The community leaders and veterans were given gifts by the guests from Russia.
