Kazan University Retains Its Position in QS EECA Rankings

The second annual rankings table of Eastern European and Central Asian universities was published on October 21st.

Kazan University is 52nd this year essentially keeping it on par with last year's 51-60.

The first edition of QS EECA was presented to the public in 2014 and listed 368 universities from 30 countries. KFU is listed in the "XL" category making it the second largest in Russia after Moscow State University.

The QS EECA methodology includes academic reputation (30% weighting), employer reputation (20%), student-to-faculty ratio (15%), international faculty (2.5%), international students (2.5%), staff with a PhD (5%), citations per paper (5%), web impact (10%), papers per faculty (10%).


«Our resulting mark is 58.5, - said Vice-Rector Marat Safiullin. - Our strengths are academic reputation (39th in the region, 7th in Russia), student-to-faculty ratio   (35th in the region, 19th in Russia), international faculty (57th in the region, 12th in Russia)».


Academic reputation is the highest in humanities and arts (39th in the region, 8th in Russia) and in natural sciences (24th in the region, 8th in Russia).

Overall there are 48 Russian universities in the top 150 of the QS EECA. Following are Turkey (16) and Kazakhstan (14).
