Kazan University to Be Featured in Movie Based on Alexandre Dumas' Travelogue

Film crew visited KFU on August 26th.

The movie will be based on Alexandre Dumas’ Adventures in Czarist Russia, or From Paris to Astrakhan. Creator and producer Pierre-Christian Brochet explains, ‘Niznhy Novgorod, Astrakhan, and Kazan are featured prominently in the book. We came to Kazan University because Dumas visited it and had a meeting with Rector Osip Kovalevsky’.

The crew toured the Museum of History and the Anatomical Theater. Mr. Brochet said that such famous filmmakers as Peter Greenaway and Saskia Boddeke will direct the film. He added that production is due to start in February – March 2016 with a tentative release date somewhere in 2017.

This is Mr. Brochet's second visit to Kazan, the first one was in the late 1990s. The guest told us that Kazan is hardly recognizable now because of so many changes in recent years.
