The Year of Physics of Mathematics in Tatarstan was closed in Yelabuga. The best schools in these fields were named, among them Lobachevsky Lyceum and IT Lyceum.

Five other schools were also awarded - numbers 19 and 83 from Kazan, numbers 2 and 6 from Bugulma, and number 26 from Naberezhnye Chelny. The criteria were Unified State Exam and student contests results.

This achievement is a credit to both our very industrious teaching staff and our talented students, - shares his joy Director of IT Lyceum Timerbulat Samerkhanov. – I am absolutely sure that the Lyceum will soon become one of the best not only in Tatarstan but also in Russia'.

Best teachers also received prizes. Among them were employees of the Lobachevsky Lyceum Sergey Mikhaylin (teacher of IT) and Olga Khramova (teacher of physics).

'The acknowledgement of our work on this level was made possible by the united steady efforts of the whole teaching staff the members of which are able to motivate our students to aim high. Math and physics are not just school subjects to us, they are areas of interest around which the student communities are created, - says Director of the Lobachevsky Lyceum Yelena Skobeltsyna. - We would very much like to attract kids who are deeply interested in these subjects as well as chemistry and biology and who can further down the road become talented researchers and move Kazan University forward'.
