KFU scientists have created an innovative Wi-Fi antenna

Innovative fractal antenna providing high-quality Wi-Fi connection was created by KFU engineers of Higher School of Information Technologies and Information Systems on the platform of the American corporation Cisco. The previewed quantity of annually released antennas is about 50,000 - 100,000 per year. KFU engineers managed to create the antenna which is 3 times smaller than the standard one so that it has the same characteristics with triple economy of the materials costs. Cisco is planning to set up the production in Russia and it will become the main investor of the project.

"Our aim was to create the antenna with all the necessary characteristics for the lower price", Associate Professor Dmitry Chikrin, the Head of the Department of Autonomous robotic systems commented. So Airat Khasyanov, Director of the instituite explained "It's economically effective, you can compare the material loss for the production of the standard antenna and the new one".

The sample for serial production was created within 3 months. The investments about 30 billion rubles are necessary to launch serial production, D. Chikrin claimed.

According to him, KFU is handling participation in the build-up of the serial production which is planned to be financed by Cisco and the other participants of the business society of the Republic of Tatarstan and Volga region.

"It is planned to provide these antennas together with standard Cisco wireless equipment in Russian Federation, and the number of 50,000 -100,000 of antennas is the quantity guaranteed by the Cisco company itself", D. Chircin explained.

Ciscо is the most popular vender of the wireless systems. Due to the economic sanctions Cisco localizes in Russia the production dedicated for Russian consumer.

"Our intention is to implement these solutions in Kazan Federal University and then, to offer them to the companies providing stable Internet connection”, A. Khasyanov commented. The university will achieve financial support - either royalty or remuneration for our patent. It is worth mentioning that fractal antennas might be used for the provision of the signal and waves liquidation. “We have developed the mathematical algorithm to create fractals that can be modified for the certain needs, as well as massive fractal structures used for producing electromagnetic or acoustic waves”, D. Chikrin said.

The Higher School of Information Technologies and Information Systems has a big number of developed splendid projects, among them are localization systems, electronic rubbish places, smart transport systems, etc. Who knows which of these projects will be on the tomorrow's news teller?
