Rustam Minnikhanov visits new laboratories of Kazan Federal University

December 6 - Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov visited the Butlerov Institute of Chemistry under construction and a new building of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies at Kazan Federal University.

The building construction of the Butlerov Institute of Chemistry is almost completed. The foundation stone laying ceremony was held within the framework of the International Butlerov Congress on Organic Chemistry in September 2011. The job-site was opened behind the old building of chemical campus (it was constructed in 40s-early 50s of the last century).

Students told Minnikhanov about projects implemented in KFU, as well as grants they received for their research.

The next venue attended by Rustam Minnikhanov was the building of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies. Modern Institute is a successor to geological faculty of KFU. For more than two centuries of Kazan university history, Kazan geological school has been formed here and  got a worldwide acceptance, among the most well-known research areas of which are ?Stratigraphy of the Paleozoic?, ?Physics of minerals?, ?Paleomagnetism and magnetism of subsurface rock?, ?Geology of Petroleum?.

During his visit to the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies president Minnikhanov looked around its laboratories and classrooms, as well as talked to students.

Representatives of the Institute told Tatarstan President about research carried out at the university, and the use of the most modern methods of investigation in their work.

The visit was accompanied by Minister of Communications and Mass Media of Russia Nikolai Nikiforov, Rector of Kazan Federal University Ilshat Gafurov and Ministers of Tatarstan.
