General Manager Noritsugu Uemura gave a lecture on Society 5.0 concept.
The delegation arrived in the morning to talk with Rector Gafurov and KFU executives.
After greeting the guests, Dr. Gafurov said, “We are pleased that our Japanese colleague is going to present his vision to the university community. We first heard about Society 5.0 from the Prime Minister of Japan last year. I think that today we can ask all the questions we wanted to ask back then but didn’t have an opportunity.”
Vice-Rector Dmitry Tayursky then spoke about KFU’s strategy and longstanding cooperation with Japanese partners, such as RIKEN and Kanazawa University.
Director of the Institute for Economic Strategies Alexander Ageev, who is also a part of the delegation, said that the visit is regarded as an educational one, but it may also lead to more tangible results, such as joint research or programs.
“In your presentation, I saw you mention the University’s strategy of digitization. Of course, it’s interesting to compare University 4.0 and Society 5.0 concepts. I will speak about the latter today. By the way, Mitsubishi Electric is not the only company in Japan to tackle this problem,” said Mr. Uemura. In the afternoon, he presented his lecture to an audience of academics and students in the Emperor Ballroom.
