Rector Ilshat Gafurov held a video conference with his colleague on 6th August.
The two institutions side a joint program agreement in 2019. After that, a special bachelor program in the 2+2 format started (2 years at Gulistan University and 2 years at Kazan Federal University).
Firstly, Rector Khodzhiev to retain enrolment rules for Uzbekistani students. Last year, 32 students were admitted to the psychology course after passing distance exams in Kazan at Gulistan University. After their sophomore year, they will move to Kazan to continue studies. Rector Gafurov responded that it can be done.
Secondly, Dr. Khodzhiev offered to open a branch of KFU in Gulistan to provide medical education. It’s of high importance for the region. Dr. Gafurov opined that it’s feasible if the partners provide the necessary infrastructure for such a branch.
The sides further discussed education programs in mathematics, IT, chemistry, environmental studies, soil studies, teaching, and engineering. Kazan University is ready to offer advanced training for educators from Gulistan. Internships for Kazanian students at Uzbekistan may also soon be offered.
Rector Gafurov also proposed to work directly with high-performing schoolchildren of Sirdaryo Region, including on-site and online science contests in Russian language, literature, and foreign languages. Special contests may also be organized for enrolment in graduate studies.
Business entities of Sirdaryo Region may also apply to Kazan University for individualized advanced training and retraining programs for their employees.
