The Research and Education Centre Russian and Slavonic Studies
The main research area of the centre is the study of Russian and Slavonic languages, Russian literature and folklore, local literature history, theory and methods of Russian language teaching, the dialogue of cultures in literature, language and teaching methods. The centre includes the Research Laboratory of the Russian and Slavonic languages, the Research Laboratory of the Dialogue of Cultures in Literature, Language and Teaching Methods; and the Academic Laboratory of the Regional Literature History.
The Research and Education Centre Kayum Nasyri Institute
The center aims at promoting Tatar language and culture around the world though the sub-centres of Kayum Nasyri Institute located abroad and in Russian regions. The centrefocuses on the study of Tatar and Turkic languages, the Tatar literature and folklore, theory and methodology of language teaching. It includes the Research Laboratory of Tatar and Turkic languages, the Research Sector of Tatar literature and folklore, the Academic Laboratory of Theory and Methods of Language Teaching, the Support Centre for Online School ANA TELE.
The Research and Education Centre Sociocultural and Multilingual Studies
The main research area of the REC is the study of cross-cultural communication and multilingualism, Romance and Germanic Philology and country studies, human systems and technologies. The centre includes the Research Laboratory of Intercultural Communication and Multilingualism, the Academic Laboratory of Romance and Germanic Philology and country studies, the Research Laboratory of Human Systems and Technologies.
Baudouin de Courtenay Research and Education Centre of Linguistics
The research is conducted in the following areas:
1. The development of the Russian segment of the Linked Open Data (LOD), which is a major international project for creating 2nd generation Internet, i.e. the semantic web, in which search engines find information by its meaning rather than by a keyword.
2. Automated extraction of textual information. In agreement with Hewlett-Packard, the system of extraction of business events from news feeds is being developed.
3. XVIII century Russian language corpora construction.
4. The study of the world languages evolution based on the database Languages of the World.
Kazan International Linguistic Centre
The centre offers a wide range additional education programs for adults, schoolchildren and university students. In our centre you can:
learn English, German, French, Spanish and other foreign languages on short-term and long-term courses;
gain a KFU diploma which grants the right to conduct professional activities on a foreign language;
successfully prepare for the Unified State Examination, State Final Examination and Unified Republic Examination, as well as for participation in the school academic competitions on philological disciplines;
become the owner of a KFU professional development certificate on philological, pedagogical and arts disciplines (Tatar, Russian and foreign languages, educational technologies, literature, music, a vocal, design, choreography, etc.);
prepare for entrance examinations (drawing, design, choreography, a vocal, etc.).
The Linguistic Centre is certified for administering international language examinations. We offer Cambridge English Language Assessment, Goethe Institute German language examinations, prep-courses for Paris Chamber of Commerce examinations of French in the sphere of tourism and hotel business, and prep-courses for Spanish examinations.
The Linguistic Centre also offers programs aimed at the preservation and further development of the Tatar language and culture. In 2013 our faculty developed a nine-level online school for the Tatar language ANA TELE.
