Directorate Chief Vladimir Chernov and his colleagues met with KFU executives on 13th November.
Rector Ilshat Gafurov spoke about the University and the changes that it has gone through since 2010, including the opening of new majors (engineering, medicine, and others), two secondary schools, and the University Clinic. He paid special attention to highlighting KFU’s international projects in Japan and extensive cooperation with the CIS countries, especially with Uzbekistan where a representative office was recently unveiled. More and more interest is shown by overseas students in studying in Russian language, said Dr. Gafurov.
Vladimir Chernov emphasized that reputation management is one of his priorities, “Our main focus is the post-Soviet sphere, and our main goal is to safeguard positions and relations in the countries of the former USSR. We tackle what is now usually called soft power. I want to thank your University and Ilshat Rafkatovich personally for your presence in Uzbekistan and your activities at the latest forum there.”
Directorate Chief mentioned that Tatarstan is very active in promoting joint projects in education, business, and policies. As for the primary objective with regards to KFU, it is important to use the University as an expertise center. That topic was touched upon by Ramil Khayrutdinov, Director of the Institute of International Relations where a new situation center was opened. He talked about information monitoring that the Center engages in and about its cooperation with the state agencies. He said that the Center is ready to make a more significant contribution to national prosperity and that it needs new jobs.
Russian language studies in overseas countries were also mentioned during the meeting.
The sides exchanged their plans, and the Directorate delegation confirmed that KFU will now be one of its partner institutions. Specifics will be discussed later today.
