The contest is organized at Kazan Federal University on 31st October – 1st November.
This year, 114 students from Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan have arrived to the Institute of International Relations (IIR) to compete in writing, written translation, simultaneous translation, speaking, poetry, and photo art.
Director of IIR Ramil Khayrutdinov notes, ‘This year, we expanded the borders for the participants, and students from overseas have joined. In the future, the contest must become internationalized. That’s a very ambitious task, and we have to make a number of steps towards achieving it. But we are convinced that we can do that.’
The Olympiad jury comprises Professor Mohammed El Hannach (Mohammed V University, Morocco), Ambassador of Syria to Russia Riad Haddad, and Attache for Culture of the Embassy of Egypt to Russia Mohammed Al Ghebali. Apart from the contest questions, the sides also discussed further cooperation with Egypt, Oman, Morocco, and other countries yesterday.
The Center for Certification in Arabic Language, the first in Russia, was established at Kazan Federal University in 2017.
