The ceremony was held on October 19th.
The Russian delegation, which included Rector Gafurov and Vice-Rector Linar Latypov, was headed by Vice-Premier Olga Golodets.
This year's contest gathered 1,200 competitors and 1,500 experts from 76 countries. There are 52 disciplines in 6 professional domains: construction, IT, arts and design, manufacturing, services, and civil transport. Russian delegation includes 58 youngsters, and 8 of them are from Tatarstan.
Team Russia was victorious in 11 disciplines (12 golds, 5 silvers and 1 bronze). Of the 8 Tatarstani participants, Andrey Diubanov and Pavel Fadeev captured silvers, and Vadim Poliakov was number one in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.
Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin received the competition flag from the organizing committee of WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017. With him were Vice-Premier Golodets, President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, General Director of WorldSkills Russia Robert Urazov, and General Director of Rosatom Alexey Likhachev.
The next WorldSkills will be hosted by Kazan in 2019.
