Chief Medical Officer Almir Abashev signed agreements with heads of Apastovo and Tetyushi districts during a visit on February 2nd.
Rector Ilshat Gafurov and Chairman of the State Council of Tatarstan Farid Mukhametshin were present during the signings. The two districts which signed the papers are represented by Dr. Gafurov in the regional parliament.
The bulk of the meeting was devoted to annual reports by heads of districts. In Tatarstan as a whole, 3,122 objects of infrastructure were built or renovated in 2018, amounting to 44 billion rubles of investment. Chairman Mukhametshin noted the willingness of the provincial government to keep up the development of rural districts despite budget constraints.
Access to high-quality medical services will be one very important part of that development. Although rural districts have decent medical facilities, the most technological services are only available in big cities. Therefore, Apastovo and Tetyushi were included in the area covered by the University Clinic.
The agreements posit that the Clinic will help colleagues in the districts until technological infrastructure there will be somewhere on par with Kazan.
