To implement the Road Map in the framework of participation in the Program for competitive growth of Russian higher education institutions among the leading world universities Kazan University has chosen the following four priority areas for its development:

To develop the aforesaid areas we open new laboratories headed by the leading scientists, actively develop academic mobility of staff and students, hold large-scale scientific events attracting researchers from all over the world. Scientists of Kazan University actively cooperate with foreign colleagues in these areas using ample opportunities of renewed research infrastructure of KFU.

Besides areas relating to natural sciences Kazan University traditionally devotes close attention to development and support of areas connected with foreign language study and teaching. Thus, annually over 20 foreign teachers work as permanent employees in KFU, teaching the German, English, Polish and Spanish languages. In the Institute of International Relations, History and Oriental Studies of KFU a broad spectrum of Oriental languages has been taught for many years, and high quality of KFU student training is ensured namely thanks to invitation of qualified teachers from among native speakers. This refers to teaching of the Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabian, Persian and Turkish languages. In addition to teaching activity foreign professors are actively involved in scientific research work of our Institutes.
