Foreign languages enjoy being into the curricula of University of Kazan since its foundation in 1804.

It was in October, 1994 when the Institute of Language was set up. Its structure was reinforced by inclusion of the Departments of English, German and French languages respectively.

The Institute of Language is an Educational and Scientific unit of the Kazan (Volga region) Federal University. The Institute puts into practice a set of higher professional education programs for a number of similar specializations and directions embracing all the levels (specialty, bachelor, magistracy). The tutors of Institute are also in charge of realizing programs of post-higher professional education, training, re-training and/or employees’ faculty development for a definite branch of professional activity; they carry out fundamental and/or applied studies.

Preparation of scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel by means of post-graduate, and doctorate structures as well as attracting competitors for a thesis is also one of the Institute’s tasks. The specialists of various departments under the Institute are in close collaboration with a variety of the leading European higher education institutions and take a pro-active approach towards a present international cooperation of Kazan Federal University.
