Cooperation with CIS countries is one of the rapidly developing areas of international activity of Kazan Federal University. A promising direction for today is to attract students from CIS countries to study at KFU, both on the federal budget and contract bases. Growing number of undergraduate and graduate students from CIS countries in the University is due to KFU policy of attracting foreign students: in 2011/12 academic year, the largest number of students from CIS countries came from Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
KFU has signed cooperation agreements with a number of universities and educational centers of CIS countries. The most active partners are universities and organizations from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan, with which there are joint research activities and annual academic mobility.
