Kazan is one of the most important logistics and transportation hubs in Russia. The M7 Volga Federal Highway (E22) and three Russian federal highways R239, R241 and R242 travel through the city of Kazan. There are also the R-175 federal highway and Northern Europe — Western China (in construction) route in near proximity to the city.
