The KFU Admissions Department begins the procedure of official invitation processing after the admission procedure is over and you have been accepted to study at the university. KFU will be able to start the visa invitation process only after receiving a complete application with all required documents attached.

According to the immigration regulations of the Russian Federation universities have to apply for invitations from migration departments that issue them on special forms. Please keep in mind that this process takes at least one month.

Once your visa invitation is ready, you will be informed on this by e-mail. The e-mail will include a scanned copy of your visa invitation. In order to minimize financial risks we advice you not to purchase your tickets to Russia before receiving at least the confirmation that your visa invitation is ready.

Once you have received the invitation from KFU by e-mail, you must apply for an entrance student visa through the Russian Embassy or Consulate in your country. Russian consular authorities in some countries issue student visas only upon the submission of the original invitation and contract for education. The embassy or consulate will advise you on what other documents you need to enclose in your visa application and when your visa will be ready. You are recommended to turn to the nearest Russian embassy or consulate for exact information on these matters.

Important steps of the visa process for an international student

1) Receiving a visa invitation from the university

2) Applying for an entry visa, which allows you to enter the country for 90 days

3) Entry to Russia

4) Receiving a local migration registration for the period of your entry visa.

If your study lasts more than 90 days.

5) Obtaining multiple-entry visa for the entire duration of your study

6) Receiving a local registration for the entire period of your study

PLEASE REMEMBER:

• The process of receiving the visa invitation takes 30 days.
• As soon as your invitation is ready you will receive a scanned copy of it by e-mail (for your information).
• The original invitation will be sent to you by mail
• Please let us know which type of mail you would prefer the invitation to be sent by (express mail is available from 1800 RUR, ordinary mail is included)
• Please let us know the exact address to which you wish the original invitation will be sent
• You will be granted an entry visa to Russia once you file the original invitation and other required documents to an Embassy (or Consulate) of Russia
• The entry visa granted with an invitation from KFU will allow you to arrive in the country 3-5 days before the program starts
• You should not book or purchase your tickets before you receive the scanned copy of your invitation by e-mail
