The program is designed for international students, as well as candidates interested in study and research in any area. The academic and research program includes language, general and individual study components.
Training requirements. There are no special requirements. Graduate and postgraduate students, as well as candidates interested in conducting research in any area, is welcome to apply (see program options). However, detailed information about the participant's previous education would help us to better prepare the training program at Kazan Federal University.
Language training requirements. There are no specific language requirements. However, Russian language ability sufficient for program participation is expected.
Special terms of admission. For those providing recommendations from international educational institutions (letter of recommendation from the participant's academic supervisor, faculty or department), special financial conditions for participation in the Program are arranged.
Status and certificate. Program participants receive the status of a Kazan Federal University student-trainee. Upon program completion, a Kazan Federal University certificate is awarded.
Program description.
I. Language Component. Adjusting Test. Participants take a written test of Russian. The objective of the test is to assess knowledge of basic grammar, vocabulary and the ability to work with a general content scientific test. Classes. 10 hours per week. The course content of the language portion of the program is determined according to the results of the adjusting test and in conjunction with the program participant. Group participation in practical Russian courses of 8-10 students per group is expected. Courses are conducted by the faculty of the Department of Contemporary Russian with considerable experience in teaching Russian as a foreign language. Spoken classes. Classes of spoken Russian for program participants are taught at three levels: beginners, intermediate and advanced. These classes are offered within the frame of the following subjects: practical phonetics, practical grammar, speaking practice, text-based work. Major-related language courses. These classes involve working with language materials (vocabulary, grammar, texts) related to the program participant's academic specialty.
II. General Component. The General block of the academic program involves attending classes in the specialty chosen by the program participant (general and specialized courses) (15-20 hours per week).
Pre-semester language intensive study (in August) is available for an extra fee but not required.
Program duration: 1-2 semesters. The program starts on September 1 (or August 1 if pre-semester language courses are included in the program) or February 1. The end of the academic year is June 30.
