Abstract

The origin, establishment, and development of the TASSR in the early 1920s were analyzed. The subsequent changes in the Republic of Tatarstan, which stressed the need to search for the most effective forms of academic research organization, were discussed. The revival of studies on the history, life, and culture of people living in the territory of the present Republic of Tatarstan, as well as in certain territorial entities of the Volga Region, was revealed. Various scientific societies and research institutions were created during that time. The high activity of scientific societies, such as the Research Department and the Academic Center of the Tatar People’s Commissariat for Education, was emphasized. Notably, some Tatar researchers contributed greatly to the development of science. Therefore, their lives and research works were of special interest to us.
