In 2016 a new department of Petroleum engineering  was formed with the aim of solving educational tasks for quality training of specialists in the field of petroleum engineering , and scientific tasks for finding of new enhanced oil recovery methods.

The teaching staff of the department is responsible for the expert training of bachelor and master students majoring in Oil and gas.

The main scopes of work of the department are:

1. Reservoir engineering;
2. Enhanced oil recovery;
3. Geological and reservoir modelling.
