A collection of articles has been recently published at the University of Istanbul, commemorating the 60th death anniversary of Sadri Maksudi Arsal, an outstanding Tatar scholar and political figure. This volume includes biographical and bibliographic information, analytical articles and translations of the scholar’s works. Turkish scholars highly appreciate the works by Sadri Maksudi in the field of the history of Turkish law, linguistics and sociology. It is with great respect that they acknowledge him as the founder of Turkey’s jurisprudence and as the author of the first university textbooks on legal subjects. The book also contains episodes from the history of the relationships between Sadri Maksudi and Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
