The present review sheds light upon the history of Gabdulla Tukay Encyclopedia. The Encyclopedia is the first published work of this kind devoted to the famous Tatar poet. Besides providing brief information about researchers and intellectuals, who took part in its compilation, the review describes the structure of the edition, the life and career of the poet, his cultural oeuvre, which covers literal, esthetic, social and philosophical aspects of the poet’s work, given in thematic articles. At the same time with reading the articles, the reader can discover rich illustrative material and a high quality of printing. The Gabdulla Tukay Encyclopedia is appreciated as a great historical event, being of great value to further fundamental work in the area of Tatar Humanitarian Science.
