The main goal of the Laboratory
is to expand the boundaries and conventional applications of the magnetic resonance approaches for petrophysical research. Under the "magnetic resonance approaches" we mean first of all different techniques of electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) also known as electron spin resonance (ESR) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). We investigate crude oils and their fractions at different conditions to understand the behaviour of the paramagnetic centres (unpaired electrons) and follow the structure and dynamic changes of the investigated species.
Our Equipment
At present our “working horses” are two EPR spectrometers at Institute of Physics of Kazan Federal University operating at X-band (9 GHz) and W-band (94 GHz) microwave frequencies in the magnetic fields up to 6 T.
