Our research focuses on different aspects of bacterial adaption to severe growth conditions. We study the molecular mechanisms of bacterial genetic machinery responses and cellular metabolism reorganization under various stress conditions.

Particular research topics include, while not limited to:

- Mono- and polymicrobial biofilm formation, inter-bacterial and bacteria-host interactions within bacterial biofilms; their role in the mechanisms of drug resistance and development of the new approaches of targeting biofilm-embedded cells;

- Molecular basis of nitrogen regulation in Firmicutes in response to nitrogen starvation;

- Development of new approaches to the investigation of single biomolecules and metaomics data by statistical methods

- Lactobacillus-based probiotics: isolation, improvement and identification of key factors determining probiotic properties
