The main scientific activities of the Laboratory are:
studying the kinetic parameters of the catalytic and the noncatalytic oxidation of oil in porous media;
creation of geological and hydrodynamic models of thermal recovery methods based on laboratory and pilot production data;
the development of catalytic systems for heavy oil in-situ refining;
the development of recommendations for the effective using of thermal and thermocatalytic hydrocarbon recovery technologies;
studying thermodynamical characteristics of unconventional hydrocarbon crude (thermostability, transition between phases and calorific heat value);
the development of control methods for in-situ combustion front;
creating our own software algorithm to simulate oil recovery process;
researches aimed at improving the efficiency of thermal-steam heavy oil extraction technologies;
the development of methods for improving the characteristics of heavy oils directly in the reservoir with using model experiments and the research results of transformations of hydrocarbon and heteroatomic components of different classes of heavy oil in the thermocatalytic processes;
changes of their paramagnetic properties and the impact of technological transformations heteroatomic components on structure changes and properties of oil disperse systems, as well as the characteristics of the distribution of catalytic additives in the pore space of the formation and change of reservoir rock properties;
the synthesis of oil- (water) soluble catalysts, introduced into the reservoir as the precursors.
