General practical physics

The practical physics of General Physics chair in KFU is one of the best of equipping workshop in Russia up to date. The uniqueness of the practicum is that the most modern training equipment is combined with extensive methodological experience of teaching stuff of the f General Physics chair and with age-old traditions of physics teaching in KFU. The vast majority of experimental tasks are described and delivered by teaching stuff of KFU. The experience of creating the practicum was used by the universities of St. Petersburg, Saransk, Barnaul, Naberezhnye Chelny. Within the framework of the various programs of interaction between universities the practical physics were accomplished by students from Austria, Thailand and a number of Russian cities.

The practical physics is used for:

Medical physics

A distinctive feature of the practical works performed in the laboratory "Medical Physics" of Institute of Physics is their obvious practical orientation. They are in addition to the works which are done in the laboratories of general practical physics by students of the Institute of fundamental medicine and biology and they provide the development of the course "Medical Physics". Some of the works included in a special practicum in Master's program "Medical Physics". Laboratory works are divided into two main sections, each of them are corresponding to the most famous and popular in modern methods of research and diagnostics in medicine - "Physical principles of ultrasonic diagnostics" and "Basics of X-ray examinations", and also ultrasound and X-ray computer tomography. Blocks of labs are simulated by real medical devices. This is allowing a deeper training of medical specialists on the basis of the laboratory practicum. Primarily, it refers to works, where the equipment includes medical mannequins and models (the eyeball, breast, model of the heart, blood vessels, etc.). Introductory parts based on the test blocks allow to get acquainted with the basics of physical methods of research. The modern equipment and software allow students to explore the full range of actions under the specific method of settings. It is expected that the laboratory practicum will be provided with textbooks of studied subject.

Photonics

The laboratory complex "Photonics" from LD-Didactic is the world's largest complex of 20 labs dedicated to the fundamentals of photonics and the operating principle of modern optical devices and systems. This complex was designed for students of high courses and master's students of physical, engineering and technical specialties. The works vary in complexity, started from the most simple to complex, and are requiring a deeply study of the material works. The complex can be used in the laboratory as part of the various disciplines, such as optics, laser physics, optical fiber and fiber optic systems, nonlinear optics, optoelectronics. The complex study the principles of functioning of 3 types of interferometers, a spectrometer, a barcode scanner, a laser anemometer, the laser vibrometer and video cameras in the infrared range. Almost every laboratory work requires the student to demonstrate both their technical skills (alignment, adjustment, the principle of operation of the unit), and a basic understanding of the physical phenomena of study.

The list of works:

  1. Analysis of the laser beam
  2. Fiber laser
