Erasmus Mundus is a cooperation and mobility programme in the field of higher education that aims to enhance the quality of European higher education and to promote dialogue and understanding between people and cultures through cooperation with Third-Countries. In addition, it contributes to the development of human resources and the international cooperation capacity of Higher education institutions in Third Countries by increasing mobility between the European Union and these countries.

Kazan University is involved in two projects in the framework of Erasmus Mundus Action 2: Triple I and Aurora. Both projects are coordinated by the University of Turku (Finland) and offer academic mobility of all levels to citizens of EU countries and Russian Federation.

Aurora consortium aims to enhance international cooperation in the field of higher education by awarding scholarships for students and university staff in partner universities. Aurora also includes increased capacity for international cooperation and modernisation; transfer and sharing of knowledge and innovations between education institutions and business; foster universities? role in regional economy; long-term partnerships and profitable opportunities.

Triple I consortium aims at the development of joint research projects and promotes exchange of experience in educational methods and practices. Organising individual mobilities enhances multilateral cooperation in university administration which helps disseminate the outcomes in a sustainable way. This includes development of mobility administration and utilising ECTS, in particular. The aim is also to develop recognition of studies and qualifications, especially in those Russian universities not already using ECTS in full scale.
