Cost of living

All students have to pay for their accommodation and living expenses as well as their books and other study materials. The total monthly living expenses of a single student average from 10000 to 20000 rubles - depending on your spending habits. If you live with a family, you spend less money on food. Stores and markets in Kazan offer a wide variety of familiar foods at affordable prices. Please note that the cost of living in Kazan is still lower than in Moscow or St. Petersburg.

For rent in a student dormitory and residence hall you should budget about 360 rubles a month (in a single room). The rent for a flat is higher; it ranges from 15000 to 25000 rubles a month depending on the flat and the location.

Lunch at the student cafeterias costs between 70 and 200 rubles. The price depends on the lunch.

Single way ticket on local transportation costs 20 rubles. It is possible to get a prepaid travel card with a little discount.
